In the next of our ‘Meet Your Therapist’ Blogs we chat to the lovely Brenda. Brenda is available on Thursdays at Restore and specialises in Remedial Massage, Deep Tissue treatments and Cupping.
Q: How long have you been a massage therapist for, and where did you study?
I qualified as a massage therapist in 2013 and studied at Island Health College North Hobart.
Q: What do you like about being a massage therapist?
It is a joy just being part of the process that allows clients to heal, restore and improve their daily well being.
Q: If you weren’t a massage therapist, what would you be?
I can’t imagine I would want to be anything other than a massage therapist. Even though I came to discover massage later in my life, to enrol, study and qualify, it is still the best decision I ever made career wise.
Q: What is your favourite food?
My favourite foods are French toast or pancakes cooked by son Sean, and Danishes made by my daughter Alex – the pastry chef.
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
My tiny amount of spare time is spent gardening, cooking and hanging out at our cabin at Arthurs Lake with my hubby Rob and our two dogs Harvey and Bear.
Q: What are your favourite childhood memories?
My favourite childhood memories are of those at the beach where my Dad would dig us our own personal wading pools in the sand surrounded by great “drippy” sand castles on the edges.
Q: What was the craziest job you’ve ever had?
I’m too sensible to ever have had a crazy job, but one of the best was as a volunteer deckhand for 3 months on the STV Lady Nelson in Hobart – I didn’t learn a lot about sailing, however I did learn a lot about sealing and sanding wood, and also a lot about myself and my abilities.
Q: To finish with, can you tell us something random people may not know about you?
I am a P&O Shuffleboard champ!
